Adaptive Rafting – Powered by Teamwork
Our rafting partners include Ultimate Descents Aotearoa and Inland Adventures in the South Island, and Tongariro River Rafting and Wero Whitewater Park in the North Island. Makingtrax has deep experience in adaptive rafting—including leading international policy through the International Rafting Federation.
Rafting is an incredibly inclusive adventure. Everyone is seated, and our experienced guides and team assist with transfers. For those with limited mobility, we use a custom support harness designed by Jezza, a tetraplegic adventurer, to ensure stability and comfort on the river.
We offer a wide range of experiences—from gentle scenic floats to multiday expeditions (up to 6 days), on rivers ranging from Class II to IV, tailored to your ability.
If you have hand function, can swim, and can self-transfer, your trip will be straightforward. If not, there may be extra challenges—but if we can make it work, we will. Our team works closely with you to personalise your rafting adventure.
To help us plan your trip, please include as much detail as possible in your enquiry, including your swimming ability and mobility needs.
