Universal & Rafting Harness
Do you need extra support, or can’t sit unassisted, but still want to get out and experience more? The Makingtrax Universal Harness is designed to open up those opportunities. Trusted by Aotearoa New Zealand professional rafting outfitters.
The Universal Harness is a more technical system that attaches to a raft or other seating setup, rather than the user. It features a full quick-release, meaning when activated, the harness stays with the equipment. There’s also an additional upper-body shoulder support system on the back, which can be adjusted or removed depending on the level of support needed.
In water environments, it’s important the user fully understands the risks. This harness should never be attached to a kayak. In a capsize situation, the system must release immediately, and that’s not possible if a user is fixed to a kayak while wearing a spray skirt. When packrafting, the ability to release quickly is critical. The harness is designed to sit around or over a PFD, allowing for a clean release when needed.
The Universal Harness is highly adaptable. It can be attached to a wide range of setups, from quad bikes to sailboats. It’s fully releasable, padded for comfort against skin to reduce pressure and abrasion, and can accommodate additional cushioning if needed. With multiple anchor points throughout, it can be easily secured to most equipment using cam straps.
It’s a versatile system, but one that relies on correct use and understanding of the environment it’s used in.
