What started as a personal mission in 2012 has grown into a connected ecosystem of platforms, partnerships, and practice — working toward a single goal: making Aotearoa the world's leading inclusive adventure destination.
Where it started
Makingtrax is the origin.
Everything in this ecosystem began with Makingtrax — the advisory work, the equipment, the operator partnerships, the lived experience, and the belief that inclusive tourism needed to be done properly or not at all. For over a decade, Makingtrax operated as the sole vehicle for that work.
Over time, the scale of what was needed became clear. Advisory alone wasn't enough. The industry needed a framework. Travellers needed a directory they could trust. The model needed to be bigger than one organisation — without losing the expertise and authenticity at its core.
Two platforms emerged from that thinking. Both are built on Makingtrax foundations. Both remain connected to the advisory expertise that started it all.
